Our story is a family story, one that started over 30 years ago.
In the 1970s, John Baraona, a real estate broker in his thirties, purchased Don Mor Cleaners in Fairlawn, Ohio. He changed the name to Fussy and entered the dry cleaning business. Around the same time, John's brother-in-law, Jack LaCarte, purchased Model Cleaners, a dry cleaning and uniform business in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Over the next several decades, the two simultaneously built successful dry cleaning and uniform management companies with solid reputations for great service with a family touch.
Jack and John raised families as their businesses grew, and now their sons and daughters are an integral part of the day-to-day operations.
Jack's five sons John, Mike, Dave, Joe, and Dan run the Model division in Pittsburgh.
One of John's daughters, Maggie, and two of his sons-in-laws, Jason Long and Jarrod Essey, take care of the operations at Fussy in northeast Ohio.
Upon John Baroana's passing in 2008, the LaCartes bought the Fussy company, ensuring that it stayed in the family.
It's not uncommon to find brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, cousins, or aunts and uncles working as part of the greater Model and Fussy family. We're proud to have many wonderful employees across two states, many of whom have been with the company for over twenty years. All of the men and women that work at Fussy and Model are an important part of our family as a whole.
Through our dedicated service, we hope you'll feel like part of the family too.
